Opening hours and the booking window: where your slots come from
In short
- You maintain opening hours in day groups, "Mon to Fri 07:00 to 23:00", "Sat, Sun closed", not one day at a time.
- openmatch generates your bookable slots from those hours automatically, on a rolling 14-day window. Slot length and buffer time you set per court type.
- A single public holiday cannot be entered as a closing day. For that you block the period on the court instead (see day-to-day bookings).
Maintaining hours in day groups
The Opening hours screen does not show you seven individual rows but one row per group of days sharing identical hours. If you are open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 23:00 and closed at the weekend, that is exactly two rows. Tap a row and an editor opens with day chips (plus quick picks for Weekdays / Weekend / All), an opening and closing time, and a "Closed" toggle. Apply, and the change lands in your draft.
You save once, through the "Save changes" bar, which appears only when something has actually changed. There is no second confirmation level per day: either you save the group or you discard it.
Opening hours can be edited by the owner and by any team member with the Edit opening hours permission. It is the only field of your venue profile a staff account can change at all (see team and permissions).
Open past midnight
If you close after midnight, 17:00 to 02:00 is the normal case for pool halls and bars, you enter exactly that. openmatch recognises that the closing time falls before the opening time and treats it as the following day. Slots after midnight then land correctly on the next calendar day.
What your slots are built from
openmatch generates your bookable time slots from your opening hours automatically, on a rolling 14-day window, extended by one day each day. You never create a slot by hand. Three things control what the slots look like, all three per court type under Booking policies:
| Setting | What it does | Factory value |
|---|---|---|
| Slot length | How long a bookable window is (60 minutes, say) | set per court type |
| Buffer between bookings | Idle time after each slot, for cleaning or changeover | 0 minutes |
| Maximum advance booking | How far ahead players may book | 14 days |
A day you set to "closed" generates no slots at all. Change your opening hours or prices and the slots are recalculated.
⚠️ Two numbers must not drift apart: openmatch only ever generates slots 14 days ahead. If you set maximum advance booking to 30 days, players will see 30 days in the date strip, but days 15 to 30 are empty because no slots exist there yet. Leave the value at 14 unless you have a specific reason not to.
Single holidays and short-notice closures
There is no entry in opening hours for a single closing day; that screen holds only your recurring weekly rhythm. If you want to close on Christmas Eve or take a day out for maintenance, you block the period directly on the court with a short reason. That is described in day-to-day bookings and works on every plan.
Do not confuse the two: the holiday import in pricing rules creates no closing days, it creates holiday prices (see pricing rules). Closing and pricing differently are two separate things.
